Since 1984, she has been recognized by the national media and television industry as an entertaining, knowledgeable and credentialed design expert appearing on major networks and cable stations throughout the country with timely TV design segments, and entertaining radio interviews. With a unique perspective on how design, science and human health are interrelated, she is also a reliable source for editors and media producers seeking design related health and wellness, home and garden, lifestyle and design storylines.
Addressing general audiences at trade related events, conventions and open to-the-public events, Deborah also represents numerous home fashion industry manufacturers and associations in their marketing efforts. She was the National Design Consultant to the National Candle Association and also served as lighting giant Osram Sylvania’s NATIONAL DESIGN SPOKESPERSON with various media and public relations duties all geared to educating the public to the many benefits of today’s modern lighting.
An energetic and prolific professional, Deborah has also shared her many talents thru the top selling "You Can Do It! Decorating video series" which originally rolled out in all WAL MART locations and was successfully sold to thousands on QVC. Additionally her book "Comfortable Living by Design" has made a well received bookstore debut and continues to sell on AMAZON.com as well as major bookstores upon request.
As an energetic TV on-air personality and featured design expert, Deborah appeared regularly on LIFETIME, HGTV, TNN, QVC and all major networks throughout the country. Extremely comfortable before live TV cameras and studio audiences, Deborah shares her knowledge with ease and frequently answers live on-air audience questions without prompt. A favorite of major market show hosts and production staff, she is a much sought after guest by top rated producers and production staff on national network, national cable and affiliate “magazine” shows.
A regular contributor to the HGTV hit shows; DECORATING with STYLE, STYLE SOLUTIONS and OUR PLACE, Deborah has created and appeared as the on-air talent with numerous design savvy 6-8 minute segments while representing major companies and associations such as: PHILIPS LIGHTING, MANNINGTON, Colonial Candle, HUNTER DOUGLAS, Best Buy, WAVERLY, SCHUMAKER, the Powder Coating Institute, the NATIONAL CANDLE ASSOCIATION, SYLVANIA, Sherwin Williams, GE Lighting, ILLUMINATIONS, and numerous others. In 1997 she was also the national on-air spokesperson for DAN RIVER INC. with the major responsibility to “ design sell ” their diverse product line to the millions of viewers on the live television shop-at-home giant QVC. During her time with Dan River, she regularly "infosold" on-air enough "Bed In the Bag" units to fill 27 tractor trailers in a 12 minute period !
A veteran of traditional ground multi-city media tours, and satellite media tours for such companies as HUNTER DOUGLAS, COLONIAL CANDLE, WAVERLY, BEST BUY and many others Deborah also feels right at home conducting telephone interviews with print journalists and radio personalities. Her many articles on the subject of design and health related design interventions have appeared in newspapers throughout the country. She also authored a weekly newspaper column entitled, Deborah on Design which ran for 6 years. Additionally also authored numerous articles for major US and European magazines as well as provided content interviews for magazines such as READERS DIGEST, AARP, HEALTH, HOME & GARDEN and many more.

On the local broadcast level since 1984, this Nashville based design pro has been the on-air design expert for the Nashville CBS affiliate WTVF NEWSCHANNEL 5 . In addition to regularly informing the viewers about the latest trends in the home fashion and construction industries on the nation’s #1 early afternoon talk magazine show “Talk of the Town”, Deborah has also served as talent and creative producer for several one-hour specials featuring homes and decorating projects in the Middle Tennessee area. As a highly recognized design and media savvy expert, Deborah has appeared in several TV commercials as well as reported on design related topics in a series of short 1:30 minute segments entitled DESIGN BASICS.
In 1996 Deborah also shared her camera friendly knowledge, production savvy and marketing skills as the creator and host of the nationally marketed video series "You Can Do IT! " a decorating video series that is now a respected teaching tool for high school home economic departments throughout the country . Always in motion, with her book, "Comfortable Living by Design" Deborah continues her drive for teaching design basics with a life balancing approach thru this innovative and uniquely “pictureless” format. This well- written and thought provoking book features practical and affordable ideas for DIY decorating fans while instilling a deeper understanding of the importance of design.
Never at a loss for words, she is also a professional speaker and past member of the prestigious NATIONAL SPEAKERS ASSOCIATION, and has created customized special event and convention programs for major companies, organizations, trade associations and national alumni groups. As a national spokesperson and DISTINGUISHED SPEAKER for the American Society of Interior Designers, she shares her research with the A&D community to standing room only crowds at most most conferences throughtout the country. she continues to spread her unique perspective and facinating research in EPIGENEITC Design to thousands throughout he world.
