Deborah Burnett, ASID, NSA is an award winning registered interior designer, licensed building contractor, author, professional speaker and FENG SHUI specialist. Since 1984, she has been recognized by the national media and television industry as a credentialed design and decorating expert appearing throughout the country with timely TV design segments, entertaining radio interviews and consistently appearing in national newspapers as a reliable source for editors seeking home and garden, lifestyle and decorating storyline.
Representing numerous home fashion industry manufacturers and associations, she has served as the NATIONAL DESIGN CONSULTANT to the National Candle Association and was also NATIONAL DESIGN SPOKESPERSON for lighting giant OSRAM SYLVANIA. Currently she has entered into an agreement with the countries premier flooring company MANNINGTON to author and design HOW TO articles for the MANNINGTON.COM website. And most recently she is the design expert for COLONIAL CANDLE COMPANY in their Fall/Holiday 05 QUICK FIX FOR ENTERTAINING media campaign. An energetic and prolific professional, Deborah has also shared her many talents thru the top selling video series YOU CAN DO IT DECORATING. Most recently, her book COMFORTABLE LIVING BY DESIGN has made a well received debut on the net and in bookstores throughout the country.
As an energetic TV on-air personality and featured design expert, Deborah appears regularly on LIFETIME, HGTV, TNN, and all major networks throughout the country. A favorite of major market show hosts and production staff , she is a much sought after return guest by national network, national cable and affiliate "magazine" shows. A regular on-air contributor to the HGTV hit shows DECORATING with STYLE and OUR PLACE, Deborah has created and produced design savvy 6-8 minute segments while representing major companies and associations such as HUNTER DOUGLAS, HOWARD MILLER, the POWDER COATINGS INSTITUTE, the NATIONAL CANDLE ASSOCIATION, and numerous
Since 1997 she has also served as the national on-air spokesperson for DAN RIVER INC. with the major responsibility to " design sell " their diverse product line to the millions of viewers on QVC. Extremely comfortable before live TV cameras and studio audiences, Deborah shares her knowledge with ease and frequently answers live on-air audience questions without prompt.
On a local level, this Nashville based design pro has appeared in several TV commercials and has created, produced and reported on design related topics in a series of 1:30 short segments designed to coincide with the paid spots . And since 1984 she has been the on-air decorating and design expert for the CBS affiliate WTVF NEWSCHANNEL 5. In addition to regularly informing the viewers about the latest trends and products in the decorating and construction industries, Deborah has also served as talent and creative producer for several one hour specials featuring homes and decorating projects in the Middle Tennessee viewing area.
A veteran of traditional multi-city media tours and satellite media tours, Deborah also feels right at home conducting telephone interviews with both print journalists and radio personalities.
Deborah has also shared her camera friendly knowledge, production savvy and marketing skills as the creator and host of the nationally marketed video series YOU CAN DO IT ! DECORATING, a decorating series that is now THE teaching tool for high school home economic departments throughout the country . In her new book, COMFORTABLE LIVING by DESIGN, Deborah continues her drive for teaching design basics with a practical and affordable approach.
